President and Chairman
Daniel B. Yarosh, PhD, president and chairman, is widely recognized as a pioneer in the science of DNA repair. Following research appointments in molecular biology and DNA repair at Brookhaven National Laboratory and the National Cancer Institute, he founded AGI Dermatics in 1985. His company has since emerged as a world leader in DNA repair technology for skin. Dr.Yarosh is the inventor of Dimericine®, the author of more than 100 scientific papers and two dozen patents, and an active participant in international photobiology societies and the New York biotechnology community. In 2004, he received the Finsen Award, presented once every four years by the International Union of Photobiology for breakthrough research in the photobiology sciences. Currently, Dr. Yarosh is writing a book, tentatively titled The Coming Skincare Revolution, which will be published by Random House.
Dr. Yarosh's advice to students: "Study what you like, because your job of the future has probably not been invented yet."
Robert L. Van Nostrand, BS
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Bob is an experienced corporate financial executive having built biotech companies into top-tier performers. Prior to his appointment at AGI, Bob served for 21 years at OSI Pharmaceuticals (NADAQ: OSIP), the biotech company focused on developing therapeutics for cancer and diabetes, most recently as Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to that, he was the company's Chief Financial Officer. While there, he was the financial lead in raising $1.4 billion in equity and debt financing, as well as several acquisitions.
A Certified Public Accountant, Bob holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Long Island University, New York, and has completed advanced management studies at the Wharton School, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bob is currently the Chairman of the New York Biotechnology Association. He also serves on the Cold Spring Harbor DNA Learning Center Corporate Advisory Board and on the Foundation Board of Farmingdale University. An active member of the Association of Biofinance Officers, Bob also sits on the boards of Apex Bioventures, Inc., Achillion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Metabolix, Inc.
Jonathan D. Klein, BS
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Jonathan Klein, AGI Dermatics' Executive Vice President & COO, has been involved in the biotechnology industry since 1983, starting with a similar position at a public biotech company. He serves as President of the Farmingdale College Foundation and is an active member in the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, the American Chemical Society, the Society for Investigative Dermatology, the Drug Information Association, the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society, and the Society of Cosmetic Chemists.
Karen Yarosh, MA
Director of Human Resources
Karen Yarosh is a co-founder of AGI Dermatics. She is a graduate of American University and holds a Masters Degree in Special Education from C.W. Post University. She has developed forward-thinking personnel policies at AGI Dermatics to promote our staff's professional and personal life.
Adrienne O'Connor, MA
Director of Quality Control and Assurance
Adrienne is Director of QA/QC. Adrienne earned a BA in anthropology, and a MA with distinction in molecular biology from Hofstra University. Before joining AGI Dermatics in 1991 as a research associate, she was employed by Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory's protein purification and crystallography lab. She is a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality, Treasurer of the Long Island Chapter of ASQ and a member of the NYBTA Women in Science subcommittee.
Georgia E. Binns, BS Director of Manufacturing and Development
Georgia brings more than 24 years of experience in research and pharmaceutical manufacturing to AGI Dermatics as Director of Manufacturing and Development. Prior to joining AGI Dermatics in November 2004, she was employed at Dow Pharma as the Manager of the Analytical Development Department and Manager of the Liposome Division, focusing on development and scale-up of parenteral liposomes for clinical trials in the contract-manufacturing arena. Georgia spent eighteen years in pure research at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, finishing her tenure as Manager of the Protein Chemistry Core Facility. Georgia earned a BS degree in Biological Sciences from the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida.
Nick Bizios, MA
Director of Process Development
Nick has been with AGI Dermatics since 1996 and is currently the Director of Process Development. He came to AGI Dermatics from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. He has held positions at the City University of New York as an adjunct and associate professor teaching biology. His breadth of expertise is vast and includes everything from process engineering and fermentation, to lab and industrial downstream purification, including chromatography and ultrafiltration. He is also responsible for the development of novel liposome formulations, protein purification processes and the implementation of new methodologies and technologies into AGI Dermatics' manufacturing pipeline. He maintains his edge by attending professional courses and meetings throughout the year. Past courses and meetings have been at MIT, GE Healthcare, ASME, Interphex and the Society of Bioprossesing Professionals. Nick was recently a presenter at Pall Corporations' 2006 Chromatography Seminar series. Nick earned his degrees in Molecular & Developmental Biology from Queens College in Flushing, NY. He is also fluent in Greek.
Frederic Carr, MBA
President, Remergent Brand
Fred Carr came to AGI Dermatics from Medicis where he served as Director of Sales and Marketing. He has an extensive background in executive management, sales force development, marketing strategies and tactics, with a specialization in the area of dermatology. Fred earned his BA in Social Sciences and MBA in International Studies from California State University, Hayward.
Barbara F. Hayes
Director of Marketing
Barbara Hayes brings national and international marketing experience to AGI Dermatics as Director of Marketing. Having served in the skincare, design and fashion industries, Barbara is a marketing strategist with a specialty in brand development, communication and design. Barbara earned her degree in marketing and communications from the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York.
Kenneth A. Smiles, PhD
Director of Research
Dr. Smiles brings more than 30 years of experience in the research and clinical development of highly effective skin care products to AGI Dermatics as Director of Research. His broad experience has covered development of pharmaceutical, OTC drug and cosmetic products at companies such as Schering-Plough and Procter and Gamble. Ken is a 26-year member of the American Academy of Dermatology as well as a member of the Society of Investigative Dermatology and is the author of over 22 scientific papers and five patents. Ken received his PhD from Indiana University.
Stanley Nusim, PhD
Board of Directors
Stanley Nusim received a PhD in Chemical Engineering from NYU after a BChE from CCNY. He then spent 38 years with Merck attaining a senior executive position and gaining broad experience, both domestic and internationally in pharmaceutical manufacturing, regulatory affairs, research and business. For the past 10 years he has been an independent consultant to the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.

Andrew Fink is a co-founder and Managing Director of Trevi Health Ventures, a US-based private equity fund focused on investments in the life sciences. Mr. Fink was previously with Groton Partners, a New York-based merchant banking firm and, prior to that, a member of the Healthcare and Life Sciences Group at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. At Groton , Mr. Fink was responsible for principal investments and advisory assignments in biopharmaceuticals, molecular diagnostics, medical devices and behavioral healthcare. At DrKW, Mr. Fink helped lead the firm's medical technology effort, evaluating principal investment opportunities and advising portfolio companies on funding, financing and capitalization issues. He has worked extensively with public and private life science clients in structuring mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance transactions. He began his career as a corporate lawyer at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York . Mr. Fink received an AB, magna cum laude, from Columbia College (where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa) and a JD from Columbia School of Law.
Steven Kaye

Steven Kaye graduated Cum Laude from Brandeis University and The London School of Economics in 1988 with a BA degree in political science. He received his MBA degree from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1992.
He is a founding partner of Israel Healthcare Ventures LP (Tel-Aviv) and Stockton Partners Inc. (New York), two venture capital businesses that focus on medical technologies, pharmaceuticals and diagnostics. He is a director of Flynn Pharmaceuticals, a UK-based pharmaceutical company and Baystone Associates Ltd, a London management company.
John Caplan
Board of Directors
John Caplan is President and Chief Operating Officer of Ford Models. He joined the company in September of 2002 and has successfully grown the firm's business, integrated acquired agencies, expanded Ford's Artist divisions and launched Ford Models 360, Ford's content and event business. He was president of the About Network, the 5th most trafficked web property, which was sold to Primedia in October 2000. He worked on the strategic development and marketing for the launch of the Arizona Iced Tea brand and oversaw regional marketing for Starbucks Coffee Company. He joined the Board in February 2007.

Fred Skolnik is a partner in the East Meadow, New York law firm, Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP. His practice relates primarily to the representation of companies in connection with public offerings and private financings, mergers and acquisitions, securities transactions, and general corporate and business matters. Skolnik is a frequent lecturer on topics related to corporate and securities law and has served the Nassau County Bar Association as Chair of the Corporation Law Committee and Securities Law Committee.
