Jean Krutmann, MD, is Professor of Dermatology and Environmental Medicine and Director, Institut für Umweltmedizinische Forschung (IUF), the Institute for Environmental Medical Research at the Heinrich Heine University. He has served as Vice Dean of Research for the Medical Faculty of the Heinrich-Heine-University of Düsseldorf (since 2003), Director, DFG-sponsored Postgraduate School "Molecular Mechanisms in Ageing and Targets for Prevention of Ageing" (2004-2009), Member of the "Scientific Committee on Consumer Products" of the European Commission, Brüssels (since 2004), Member of the Board of Directors of the Research College of the Medical Faculty at the Heinrich-Heine-University (since 2004), President of the "European Society for Photodermatology (ESPD)" (since 2004), Member of the DFG Collaborative Research Centre 503 (since 1995), Member of the Board of Directors (since 2001), Member of the DFG Collaborative Research Centre 364 (1993-1994), Member of the Board of Directors of the Biological Medical Research Centre at the Heinrich Heine University (since 1998).
He also serves as Associate Editor: Photodermatology, Photoimmunology, Photomedicine, Photochemical + Photobiological Sciences and Der Hautarzt ('The Dermatologist').
